Hip Hop Has Lost a Legend: R.I.P Sean Price

We’re sad to report that Sean Price is no longer with us. Last night the Brooklyn MC passed away at the age of 43.

The news was confirmed by his longtime friend DJ Premier, who took to Instagram to offer his condolences: “R.I.P. Ruck….Love and Respect to The Duck Down Family!!! #SeanPrice.” He reportedly died in his sleep.

Sean Price who also went by the name Ruckus rise to Hip Hop legend status as one-half of the duo Heltah Skelta. He was also a member of two Hip Hop collectives, Boot Camp Clik and Random Axe, and an irreplaceable member of Duck Down Music Inc.

His most beloved and revered project to date was his 2012 album, Mic Tyson.

Before his untimely passing, Price had a new mixtape on the way called Songs In the Key of Price inspired by Stevie Wonder. The tape was slated for release on August 21st. No word on what will happen to the project now.

It is pretty ironic that the other day Price performed in a memorial concert honoring the late Brooklyn emcee Pumpkinhead. Rest in peace, Sean!
